Case against Satybaldy's ex-wife sent to court

Astana. May 2. KazTAG – The case against Gulmira Satybaldy, the ex-wife of Kairat Satybaldy (nephew of ex-President Nursultan Nazarbayev), has been sent to court, reports the anti-corruption agency.
“The agency has completed an investigation into the suspicion of Satybaldy G. and other persons on the facts of illegal imprisonment of an entrepreneur, extortion on a particularly large scale and arbitrariness leading to grave consequences,” reads the statement.
“In relation to Satybaldy G., with the sanction of the investigative court of Almaty, a preventive measure in the form of “detention” was chosen. The criminal case has been sent to the Specialized Interdistrict Criminal Court of Almaty for consideration on the merits,” reads the statement.
Gulmira Satybaldy is involved in embezzlement of funds for the repair of Universiade 2017 facilities, raiding and kidnapping. On June 30, 2023, she was sentenced to another eight years in the case of damages amounting to T441 million in Kyzylorda.
