Almost a third of businessmen confirmed fact of corruption at Kazakhstani customs

19.05.2017 Astana. May 19. KazTAG - 28% of businessmen have confirmed the facts of corruption at Kazakhstani customs border, said Dina Mamasheva, director of the department of customs administration of Atameken national business chamber.
"Today the national chamber is conducting anonymous interrogation among the businessmen. This year the surveys covered two customs posts. 28% of the businessmen indicate the facts of corruption among the customs bodies, 13% indicated dishonest attitude of employees to their obligations performance, very low estimation of staff policy of the customs bodies. There has been indicated excessive centralization of administrative issues," said D. Mamasheva.
"About 18% of interrogated people said they have never faced corruption," she added.
In her words, in most cases bribes are given for acceleration of customs administration, for violation of customs rules bypassing protocol and for depreciation of customs cost.
