Akorda on renaming capital: Other names in honor of Nazarbayev should remain

Astana. September 14. KazTAG - Press Secretary of the Head of State Ruslan Zheldibay, commenting on the initiative to rename Nur-Sultan back to Astana, said that other names in honor of ex-president Nursultan Nazarbayev, according to President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, should remain.
“As you know, a group of parliament deputies proposed to return the former name of Astana to the capital of Kazakhstan. The President was informed about this initiative of the deputies, who, in turn, relied on the proposals that were repeatedly expressed during meetings with the population, as well as in numerous appeals of citizens during the referendum,” said Zheldibay.
The proposal of the parliamentarians is included in the draft Constitutional Law with the consent of the head of state.
