Kazakhstan may stop gas exports in the next two years

Almaty. October 13. KazTAG - Kazakhstan may stop exporting gas in the next two years, said  Bolat Akchulakov ,Energy Minister.
“We assume that in the next couple of years we will stop exporting gas altogether. The preferences currently being developed are set to look for new hydrocarbon reserves, probably, first of all, in gas fields,” Akchulakov said, speaking at the Russian Energy Week conference.
According to him, there is still enough marketable gas, but growing consumption requires more gas.
“There are a lot of unexplored territories in Kazakhstan. Out of 15 sites, we are working in only at five. 10 have not been in operation yet. Therefore, I think the question of the possibility of exporting in the future is a question of searching and discovering gas reserves, which will be sufficient, first of all, for domestic consumption, and we will be ready to sell the surplus if there is any,” Akchulakov added.
