KPO announced among the winners of republican environmental competition

Astana. October 22. KaTAG -  Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) was announced among the winners of the 3d Republican Contest ‘2021 Green Office’ and received a Diploma at an Awards Ceremony that was held today in Nur-Sultan.
More than 100 organizations including educational, healthcare institutions, government authorities, international organizations and representation offices, industrial enterprises, financial organizations and NGOs took part in the Contest. Based on to the results of the competition, 30 entities became winners in various nominations. KPO was announced the winner in category for industrial enterprises.
Kanat Nurakhmetov, KPO Nur-Sultan Office Controller, said: “KPO regards this award as a high commendation of company's environmental protection achievements confirming the commitment of leadership and employees to continuous improvement of company's environmental management system. KPO adheres to the principles of sustainable development and fully supports the initiative for the transition to a green economy".
“While developing the Karachaganak field the Company applies innovative technologies and maintains its focus on minimizing an impact on the environment and increasing the energy efficiency of operations,” said Kanat Nurakhmetov.
KPO was one of the first subsoil user companies in the Republic of Kazakhstan to support the transition to a "green office" concept including environmental performance monitoring, reporting and environmental training for company's employees.
The company has identified environmental training as a priority for "green office" implementation as it transforms the mindset of employees by encouraging a respect for company's resources and loyalty to green technologies and work practices being implemented.
The ‘2021 Green Office’ competition was held at the initiative of the G-Global Coalition for Green Economy and Development with the support of the RoK Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources and the OSCE Office. The purpose of the competition is promotion of an ecological lifestyle, "green" and low-carbon technologies, sharing of best practices and technological solutions as well as creation of conditions for cultivating environmentally friendly attitude.
