KPO Sustainability Report is an important tool of communicating to the stakeholders about the activities of the Karachaganak Project and its impact on the environment, the local communities and the economy of the Western Kazakhstan.
The Sustainability Report 2018 presents information and data on the topics material for KPO, such as:
• Occupational health, industrial safety and asset integrity, ethical conduct, labour practices and decent work, personnel development and training.
• Environmental protection activities and programmes, including monitoring of air quality, implementation of GHG reduction, conservation of biodiversity, energy efficiency, water consumption and waste management.
• Contribution to the economic development of the West Kazakhstan region through KPO supply chain, including local content projects, social infrastructure projects and community engagement mechanisms.
The Report has been prepared in accordance with the GRI Standards, the international model of sustainability reporting.
In the past few years, KPO received awards from the RAEX National Rating Agency for the best disclosure of sustainability information in the Sustainability Reports 2015, 2016 and 2017. In 2019, KPO was selected a finalist in the Asian Sustainability Reporting Awards 2018 in the nominations “Best Environmental Reporting” and “Best Workplace Reporting”.
