KPO took part in Kazneftegazservice-2019 conference


Almaty. March 18. KazTAG - Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) took part in the VII annual Conference "Kazneftegazservice-2019", which was held in the city of Atyrau.
The Conference was organized by the Union of Oilfield Service Companies of Kazakhstan. The event focused on issues of local content provision during engineering, construction and overhaul activities in oil and gas industry.
The Conference was attended by the representatives of the RoK Ministry of Energy, regional authorities, the RoK National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, domestic oil and gas service companies as well as representatives of Karachaganak Partners and large subsoil users.
The KPO delegation was represented by Gennaro Zuccaro, Operations Director, Pierluigi Ameno, Project Development Director, Laurie Schmidt, Supply Chain Director, Marco Ciccone, Turnaround Manager, as well as Local Content Development Department and Supply Chain employees.
In his welcoming speech to the participants of the conference Gennaro Zuccaro, KPO Operations Director, said that KPO fully supports the RoK Government initiative to develop capacity of local enterprises and recognises the importance of technology and know-how transfer to the Republic allowing to achieve reduction of operation costs. He noted that over the last several years, KPO has been steadily increasing the share of Local Content in KPO’s ongoing field activities and debottlenecking projects.
“The share of local content in goods, works and services has grown from 47 percent in 2014 to 60 percent in 2018, which amounted to $474 million. Overall, since signing the FPSA in 1997, the Local Content in KPO’s procurement activities has exceeded $7 billion”, added Gennaro Zuccaro.
Pierluigi Ameno, Project Development Director, delivered a presentation on plateau extension projects and the Karachaganak Expansion Project. Speaking to the audience, he noted that the Karachaganak Expansion Project will be executed with due consideration of the RoK Government’s efforts and requirements aimed at increasing the local content in the oil and gas industry through in-flow of investments, creation of new job opportunities, training of local personnel and transfer of advanced technologies to Kazakhstani companies.
Laurie Schmidt, Supply Chain Director, briefed the attendees on KPO’s procurement process, the upcoming major tenders as well as the current company’s activities aimed at localization of goods, works and services as part of the KPO Local Content Development Programme for 2018-2019.
Marco Ciccone, Turnaround Manager also shared information about the Main Planned Activities according to the KPO Turnaround Strategy in 2019.
As it has it been noted by KPO delegates, the company will continue to develop plans for increasing Local Content. KPO encourages suppliers to establish partnerships and joint ventures
