Astana. February 28. KazTAG – More than 127 thousand houses and more than 725 thousand people are in the flood-risk zones of Kazakhstan, said Yury Ilyin, Minister of Emergency Situations.
"In the event of an unfavorable development of the flood situation, 255 settlements may be in the inundation zone, and this is more than 127 thousand houses (127,037) and over 700,000 people (725,443)," said Ilyin.
Flood-prone settlements are: in the Atyrau region - 36, the Kostanay region - 34, the West Kazakhstan region - 32, the Akmola region - 31, the Almaty region - 27, the Turkestan region - 16, the Aktyubinsk and Karaganda regions each - 12, the East Kazakhstan region – 10, the North Kazakhstan and Abay regions - 8 each, the Zhetysu region – 7 , the Zhambyl, Kyzylorda and Ulytau region - 6 each, Pavlodar – three, Almaty – one.
