“From September 1 to September 24, 896 foreign citizens applied for a residence permit, including 115 of them were Russian citizens, which is about 10%,” Aslan Atalykov said at a briefing by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
He recalled that any foreign citizens, including those arriving from Russia, have the right to apply for obtaining the right to reside in Kazakhstan, but only on legal grounds.
“If one illegally entered the country, then there can be no question of obtaining a residence permit,” Atalykov said.
If a foreigner is denied a permit for permanent residence, he must leave the country within 30 days.
