13 suspects of money extortion from long-distance truckers detained in Turkestan region

Turkestan. February 25. KazTAG - 13 suspects of money extortion from long-distance truckers have been detained in the Turkestan region, reports the police department.
"The criminal police officers jointly with the representatives of the NSC department of the Turkestan region detained an organized criminal group which had been extorting money claiming from 15 000 tenge to 50 000 tenge for crossing the Kaplanbek checkpoint located in Saryagash," said the report.
In case of refusal to pay, the criminals threatened to beat the drivers, crashed windscreens, blew the tires of the trucks.
13 suspects-inhabitants of the Turkestan region have been arrested. Police withdrew a rifle, a knife and money from them.
