14 citizens of Kazakhstan returning from Syria charged with terrorism
Astana. October 17. KazTAG - 14 citizens of Kazakhstan returning from Syria have been charged with terrorism, reports the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan.
"Investigation of the criminal case in respect of 14 citizens (returning from Syria to Kazakhstan within frameworks of Zhusan operation - KazTAG) has completed, according to the investigation, they were in one DAESH group in Syria. They have been charged with terrorism, recruiting and propaganda of terrorism and other grave crimes. The materials have been transferred to the specialized interdictrict criminal court of Nur-Sultan," said the report.
According to the department, within the frameworks of the Zhasulan operation conducted by the NSC jointly with the state bodies and foreign partners, 595 citizens of Kazakhstan, including 400 children, have returned from Syria.
"10 males and 5 females have been convicted for participation in DAESH international terror organization," said the report.
