15-year-old girl caught encephalitis after tick bite in East Kazakhstan region

Almaty. June 2. KazTAG - A 15-year-old girl has contracted encephalitis after a tick bite in the East Kazakhstan region, reports YK-news.kz.
“This year, the epidemiological season has moved because the warm season came early. As a result, a number of people have suffered tick bites. As of May 29, 493 cases were registered against 338 for the same period last year. One case of tick-borne encephalitis was registered in our city. The girl was born in 2005, she suffered multiple bites. She was attending West Altai nature preservation reserve on May 8.  The girl applied for medical aid only when signs of the disease appeared, ”said Gulmira Mrzagarayeva,  chief state sanitary doctor of Ridder.
