200 mln tenge to be annually allocated in Kazakhstan to compensate damage caused by tortures
Astana. May 16. KazTAG - 200 mln tenge will be annually allocated from the budget of Kazakhstan for the national preventive mechanism against tortures, said Askar Shakirov, human rights commissioner.
"Functioning of the national preventive mechanism will be conducted within the funds stipulated by the law on republican budget 2014-2016 to 200 mln tenge annually," he said.
The mandate of the program covers internal bodies' institutions, health care, defense and education.
According to the General Prosecutor's Office 35 criminal cases were instituted in 2013 on tortures facts, 31 employees of the law enforcement bodies were convicted.
