25 citizens of Kazakhstan are serving sentences in prisons in South Korea and 26 are awaiting court verdict

Astana. January 20. KazTAG -  25 citizens of Kazakhstan are serving their sentences in prisons in South Korea and  26 are awaiting a court's verdict, said Marat Akhmetzhanov, Deputy Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan.
“At present, 25 citizens of Kazakhstan are serving their sentences in Korea. One Korean citizen is serving a sentence in Kazakhstan, ”Akhmetzhanov said at a meeting of the Majilis.
According to the Deputy Prosecutor General, these convicts can return to Kazakhstan and continue serving their sentences at their homeland.
“After the ratification of this agreement (“ On the transfer of convicted persons between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Korea ”- KazTAG), our embassy will carry out work on these convicted persons. They will carry out explanatory work that there is such an opportunity to return to the country, ”he added.
But it requires their consent to return.
He also noted that at the moment other 26 Kazakh citizens in South Korea are being prosecuted and waiting for the court's order.
