609 settlements in Kazakhstan are in high water zone - MIA

Astana. February 25. KazTAG - 609 settlements in Kazakhstan are located in the high water zone, said Yerlan Turgumbayev, Minister of Interior Affairs.
"According to preliminary prognosis of Kazhydromet, the volumes of snow in the state and moisture reserves in river basins are significantly higher than normal. The process of snow accumulation is still underway. The situation in Nur-Sultan, Akmola, East Kazakhstan, Karaganda, Kostanay, Pavlodar and North Kazakhstan regions may get complicated. Now 609 settlements, 675 sections of roads and 259 sections of railways are located in the real risk zone," said the report.
In order to prevent flooding, more than 8.8 million cubic meters of snow were removed from the settlements, reserves of fuel and lubricants (13.5 thousand tons), inert materials (152.6 thousand tons), bag containers (840 thousand pieces), explosives (47 tons), emergency reserves worth 34.2 bn tenge have been prepared.
