97% SDW landfills do not meet sanitary requirements
Astana. April 21. KazTAG - 97% of SDW landfills do not meet sanitary requirements in Kazakhstan, said Nurlan Kapparov, Minister of Environment and Water Resources.
"As for our landfills, 97% of them do not meet the sanitary norms in Kazakhstan," he said.
"That is the analysis which was conducted during the work on SDW management program," he added.
In his words, only the landfill in Astana meets the sanitary requirements and European standards.
"After the program is adopted we will work on the solution of questions at the operating landfills, their rehabilitation and also construction of new landfills which will meet the European requirements," he added.
