About 2500 cases of infant mortality recorded annually in Kazakhstan
Astana. October 7. KazTAG - About 2500 cases of infant mortality are annually recorded in Kazakhstan, said Yelzhan Birtanov, Minister of Health Care.
"We have about 2500 cases of infant mortality. Up to date there are 2200. The highest level has been recorded in the Turkestan, Kyzylorda and Almaty regions. The level is two times higher than in the Atyrau region," he said on the sidelines of the Government.
As it was reported, the doctors of Atyrau regional prenatal center are suspected of killing a newborn. According to the anti-corruption service, the infant was registered as dead after his birth, while factually he was alive. The child was showing the signs of life, while instead of taking urgent resuscitation measures, doctors left the infant to die as they had already registered the documents.
It was also reported that more than 40 infants died within two months in the maternity clinic in Atyrau.
