Administrations of regions do not perform anti-flood arrangements - MIA

Astana. February 25. KazTAG - The administrations of the regions do not perform anti-flood arrangements, said Yerlan Turgumbayev, Minister of Interior Affairs of Kazakhstan.
"The administrations of the West Kazakhstan region (1.2 bn tenge), Kyzylorda region (518.5 mln tenge) have not been performing the planned arrangements in the past few years. Only 37% (97.8 mln tenge out of 262.6 mln tenge) were allocated in the North Kazakhstan region, no funding was provided last year in the Pavlodar region, in the East Kazakhstan region. We cannot say we are ready for floods," he said.
He said the authorities failed to resettle people living in the dangerous areas. Now such works are being conducted only in the North Kazakhstan, Akmola and Aktubinsk regions.
"Totally more than 170.7 thousand constructions and residential houses are located in such zones. The majority of them are located in Almaty (81 138), in the East Kazakhstan region (47 823), in the West Kazakhstan region ( 21 008), in the Akmola region (5693), in the Kyzylorda region (4929). These arrangements are costly, but their consequences can be scaled," he said.
