Afghanistan raised a high record of opium poppy this year - UN

Almaty. November  12. KazTAG - Afghanistan raised a high record of opium poppy this year, according to the report released by the UN department on drugs and crime.

As the UN says, the overall area of opium poppy in Afghanistan reached to 224 thousand hectares, compared with the last year it increased by 7%, informs RIA Novosti.

According to chief of Russian Drug Control Agency Viktor Ivanov Afghanistan is swiftly turning into a drug-state, and prognosed areas of opium poppy cultivation are annually growing due to the ignorance by the army of USA.


According to Ivanov, over the last three years lands for opium growing increased from 138 to 209 thousand hectares, and annually Afghanistan produces up to 150 bln single doses.
