Air traffic controller sentenced 6 years imprisonment accused of plane crash of border service in Shymkent suburbs
Shymkent. April 28. KazTAG - Kanat Akilbekov, air traffic controller, accused on the case of AN-72 plane crash of the border service, has been sentenced 6 years imprisonment.
"Sentence Akilbekov 6 years imprisonment," said Saidybattal Tikbergenov, judge reading the verdict on Monday.
Earlier prosecutor Ashirbay Sakhayev claimed 6 years imprisonment in a settlement colony. In addition he claimed to surcharged over 800 000 tenge from the convict.
As reported An-72 en route Astana-Shymkent crashed on December 25 2012in Sairamsk district in South-Kazakhstan region. There were 7 crew members and 20 soldiers aboard, including Turganbek Stambekov, colonel, director of NSC border service, Pavel Dotsenko, head of border troops "Ontustyk" and heads of border departments "Karday" and "Saryagash". The crew and passengers died.
According to the General Prosecutor's Office the plane crashed due to bad weather, crew mistake and failure of robot pilot.
