AirAsia company will pay off $100 to each family of air crash victim
Almaty. January 8. KazTAG - Air Asia company will pay off $100 000 to each family of deceased passengers of 8501 flight, reports CNN Money information portal.
"The company told CNN it will provide about $100,000 in compensation for each passenger on the plane. That's in addition to $24,000 already offered to victims' families," reads the statement.
"It's unclear whether the amount being offered by AirAsia will require victims' families to agree not to pursue other claims for compensation," said the publication.
International treaties play a key role in determining payouts in air accidents, specifically the Montreal Convention. It guarantees a minimum level of compensation for families -- currently about $174,000.
