Almost 300 people in Almaty bitten by ticks
Almaty. April 25. KazTAG - Almost 300 people have applied to the medical institutions of Almaty after being bitten by ticks, reports the city department for protection of consumers' rights.
"297 people have applied or medical aid, of them 126 are children. All of them got specific immunoglobulin," reads the message.
In the same period last year there were 668 people including 289 children bitten by ticks. "This year the weather is still cold. People do not travel to the mountains so actively. The majority of people apply after traveling outside the city. There have been 10 cases in the city, basically in the private sector," reads the message.
Meanwhile, sanitary treatment has not been held in Almaty yet.
"Most likely it will start in May. Last year it was made in April-May, this year we had no tender due to financial problems. Most likely we will start treating next week,” said the department.
The first tick's victim applied to the hospital on March 17.
