“In order to optimally use the housing stock of penitentiary institutions, the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs is considering the issue of re-profiling institution No. 19 in the Abay region. It is planned to change the type of institution No. 19 from mixed to maximum security,” reads the report.
Convicts from the Semey jail will be sent to institution No. 34 in the Karaganda region with a similar detention regime.
