Anti-monopoly department of Kazakhstan commented on reason of high coal prices
Astana. September 25. KazTAG - The anti-monopoly department of Kazakhstan has commented on the reason of high coal prices in Kazakhstan.
“The intermediaries affiliated with the coal producing companies pay 5.5 thousand tenge per ton and increase the price up to 10 thousand tenge, or by two times. After resale of coal to other intermediaries coal price rises to 15-18 thousand tenge per ton," said the committee for natural monopolies regulation, protection of competition and consumers' rights of the Ministry of National Economy at the session of the work group analyzing the condition of competition in the key commodities markets.
The anti-monopoly department said that independent retail suppliers of coal have no access to the resources of coal producing companies.
"49 coal suppliers and one coal producing company Karazhyra were brought to liability and fined 338 mln tenge in 2017-2018," said the committee.
