Attempt of sale of more than 240 kg of uranium concentrate suppressed in the Kyzylorda region
Astana. October 28. KazTAG - An effort of sale of more than 240 kg of uranium concentrate has been suppressed in the Kyzylorda region, reports the NSC of Kazakhstan.
"The NSC officers have suppressed sale of more than 240 kg of uranium concentrate on October 23. In the result of a special operation 4 members of the criminal group were detained," said the report.
According to the experts, the withdrawn uranium concentrate is a dangerous radioactive substance with high radiation level which poses serious threat to the environment and people’s health.
The uranium was stolen from a company developing vanadium ore deposits.
