Authorities promised to discuss rules of journalists' activity at peaceful assemblies in Kazakhstan

Astana. February 27. KazTAG - Daniyar Yesin, Vice Minister of Industry and Public Development, promised to discuss the rules of activity of journalists at the peaceful meetings.
"As for the journalists, (the draft law "On peaceful meetings"- KazTAG) does not restrict the rights of journalists in anyway. Moreover, it provides the right for journalists to take part in the peaceful meetings. As an authorized body it has the right to spell out the rights of journalists at the peaceful meetings, so that the journalists could have distinctive signs. We know a number of cases when journalists were detained by mistake at the unsanctioned meetings. This question will be discussed with the journalists' community" he said on the sidelines of the public hearing entitled "Freedom of peaceful meetings- base of democracy".
He referred to the example of yellow vests.
"Imagine you are attending a peaceful meeting and need to interview somebody. You should have distinctive signs that you are a journalists, so that the organizers and other people could know that you are journalists. If you show your ID to everyone, you will lose you time, right? When you wear a yellow vest everyone will know that you are a journalist," he added.
