BRT construction postponed in Almaty

Almaty. August 6. KazTAG – The main construction of the bus rapid transit (BRT) in Almaty has been postponed until next year.
“Transport expert Ruslan Mukhomedyarov, during a round table to discuss the project from Pushkin Street to Seifullin Avenue, called for the main construction work to begin not this fall, but in April next year. This will help avoid a transport collapse,” said the city adiministration.
The Akimat decided to implement the BRT project in several stages.
The preliminary feasibility study for the BRT project in Almaty was developed back in 2014. The first section, 1.7 kilometers long, will cover the section from Pushkin Street to Seifullin Avenue. BRT will run from Altyn Orda Street to Zhetysu Street. The total length is 17 km.
