Caspian Sea froze down first time in past several years

Aktau. January 30. KazTAG - The Caspian Sea has frozen down for the first time in the past several years, reports "Kazhydromet" of Mangistau branch.
"The ice width made up about 80-90 meters. The ice formed basically to the south from the 4th microdistrict from "Nur-Plaza" beach. It is the primary form of ice formation," said Nurlan Sarsenbayev, engineer-hydrologist.
According to the weather forecast, air temperature will increase above zero in the future week melting the ice.
According to the specialists ice formation is rare in the Caspian Sea; it happens once in 5-7 years. Ice creates problems for swans arriving for the winter time.
