Christmas divine service to be held in all Orthodox temples of Kazakhstan at night on January 7
Almaty. January 4. KazTAG - Christmas divine service will be held in all the Orthodox temples at night on January 7, reports the Metrapolitan press-service.
"Very soon at night on January 7 Orthodox Christians will mark this great event. On these holy days, illuminated by the light of the Star of Bethlehem, we will ask the God-child Christ to bestow peace and prosperity on our native land of Kazakhstan, to strengthen the brothers and sisters living in fraternal Kievan Rus, to save Christians suffering from wars and persecution," he said.
In Astana the main celebrations will be held in the Uspenskiy Cathedral.
“The main divine service of Christmas is the divine liturgy. Traditionally, it takes place at night of January 6-7. The celebration will take place in St. Sophia Cathedral, and of course, in Uspenskiy Cathedral in Astana. The divine service will take place at night at 23.00 in Uspenskiy Cathedral," he added.
Metropolitan of Astana and Kazakhstan Alexander will conduct the festive liturgy in Voznesenskiy Cathedral of Almaty at 11.00 am.
