Coalition of civil initiatives of Kazakhstan demands reconsideration of cases of civil activists
Almaty. September 20. KazTAG - The coalition of civil initiatives of Kazakhstan has claimed consideration of the cases of civil activists brought to liability for participation in the protest actions.
"We claim immediate reconsideration of the cases of civil activists, we claim to bring the law "On order of organization of peaceful assemblies, meetings, marches, pickets and demonstrations in Kazakhstan" in compliance with the Constitution of Kazakhstan and to comply with the international obligations assumed by our state in the field of human rights," said Alnur Ilyashev, reading the statement of the coalition of civil activists concerning arrests of Kazakhstani activists on September 16-19.
The coalition is outraged by the disproportion of punishments.
“We are also outraged by the disproportionate punishment of civil activists. None of them did anything illegal, rallies were stopped following the police requirements. Nevertheless, extreme administrative measures are applied against them - arrests. Moreover, arrests and courts were carried out at night and without lawyers, ” the statement said.
According to the statement, concerning the facts of violation of the rights of civil activists "protests will be filed in the legal field."
In turn, Togzhan Kozhalieva reported on the number of activists brought to administrative liability.
“From September 16 until now, 54 people have been detained in Kazakhstan, 41 have been arrested for 3 to 15 days: in Astana - 13 people, in Almaty - 7, in Aktau - 4, in Ust-Kamenogorsk - 4, in Shymkent - 3, in Aktobe - 2. Today, 4 will appear in trial in Astana, Aktobe, and Almaty. One more person was detained last night. Five people were called for interrogation, 6 for preventive conversations. Activists provided this information to us from the regions, ” she said.
