Conscripts may be checked on drugs addiction
Astana. April 9. KazTAG - Majilis deputy Talgat Yergaliyev proposed to make "pilot" tests on drug addiction of conscripts when they pass medical commission, and also to check students and senior high school students.
"We propose to make "pilot" tests to detect drug substances in the organisms of conscripts while passing medical commission, and among students and senior high school students when they get medical certificates," he said at the plenary session of the chamber.
He added there are approximately 50 000 drug addicts in the country.
"However, the General Prosecutor's Office believes the data are incorrect as every third addict escapes recording," he said.
He reminded "in 2001 the Health Ministry published data that there were more than 250 000 drug addicts in Kazakhstan, some scientific sources indicated different figures- 500 000 people".
According the statistics data the deputy referred to, the number of crimes connected with drugs circulation reached 4200 in 2013.More than half were committed by young people.
