Construction of fourth refinery in Kazakhstan won't solve problems at fuel market- expert
Almaty. February 4. KazTAG - The construction of fourth refinery in Kazakhstan won't solve the growing problems at the fuel market of Kazakhstan, said Gulmira Ismagulova, leading scientific employee of Kazakhstani institute of strategic research under the President.
"In our opinion the construction of the fourth refinery in Kazakhstan will not solve the growing problems at the fuel market of Kazakhstan. It is conditioned by unpreparedness of the local fuel producers to face tough competition with modernized powerful refineries of Belarus and vertically integrated oil and gas giants of Russia in the uniform economic space," she said.
In her words modernization of three refineries is underway which started in 2009 and is planned to finish this year.
"The national company KazMunayGas promised to cover the internal market by 2020 supplying petrol, diesel fuel and jet kerosene on the base of Euro-4 and Euro-5 standard. The Ministry on Investments and Development is negotiating possible construction of the fourth refinery with Chinese investors," she said.
