Construction of Kok-Zhailau resort postponed in Almaty
Almaty. April 8. KazTAG - Construction of Kok-Zhailau resort has been postponed in Almaty.
"We must keep the balance of economy, society and ecology, i.e. create modern resorts with minimal impact on the environment. I believe there is no need to hurry. We must study all the expert opinions and prospects of new localities. I propose to elaborate the project and postpone it. In addition, development of operating resorts, according to the experts, will take at least 3-5 years. We will gain experience in this period of time, prepare personnel, study the opinion of inhabitants and guests of resorts. Only after that we will be able to start the resort construction," said Bauyrzhan Baibek, akim of Almaty.
The majority of the members of the public council encouraged the proposal of the akim, one abstained.
"The mountains are our main competitive advantage and we must use it. According to the estimations of Austrian experts, having invested $1.5 bn within 7-10 years the economy will get $2 bn annually. It is important as more than 20 000 work places will be created," he added.
