Almaty. July 25. KazTAG - The court on the leader of Atazhurt Eriktileri movement Serikzhan Bilash will start on July 29 in Nur-Sultan, said Aiman Umarova, lawyer.
“The indictment was approved on July 19 by Utegenov, deputy prosecutor of Nur-Sultan. That means he sent the case to court. I received a message that the Almaty District Court No. 2 of Nur-Sultan will consider the case on July 29 at 11.30, ” Umarova told KazTAG news agency.
She clarified on the article he was charged.
“At first the case was registered under Part 1 of Art. 174 (excitement of social, national, tribal, racial, class or religious hatred) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Later the law enforcement bodies established that he must be charged under Part 2, that he was the leader of the organization, etc. But ultimately, the indictment was passed under Part 1 of Art. 174, ” the lawyer explained.
In her opinion, there is no crime in the actions of Bilash.
“I believe that there is no crime there, because he said that he would do informational jihad against discrimination of Kazakhs, Kyrgyz, Uighurs in correctional camps in China. The evidence of the prosecution is the examination and so-called witnesses, among whom Mukhtar Shakhanov who said that these statements provoke discord, ”said Umarova.
In addition, she said she would request additional time to prepare for the trial.
