"The East Kazakhstan Region Prosecutor’s Office continues its systematic work to prevent offenses. An analysis of the crime situation showed positive dynamics: the crime rate in Ust-Kamenogorsk has been decreasing. By the end of last year – by 2.6%, over the past period of the current year – it decreased by 13.8%,” reads the report.
According to the prosecutor's office, such dynamics have been achieved thanks to coordinated measures to prevent offenses and the effective use of modern technologies.
The city has 5,832 video surveillance cameras, some of which recognize faces. In 2024, they helped identify more than 16,000 traffic violations, over 15,000 administrative offenses, and solve more than 150 criminal offenses.
"Particular attention is paid to combating drug trafficking, domestic violence, and fraud. The use of information technologies, including video surveillance systems, allows us to effectively prevent and suppress illegal acts," said the prosecutor general's office.
