Dams in two mountain gorges of Almaty are to be built in 2021-2023

Almaty. October 1. KazTAG - Dams in two mountain gorges of Almaty are planned to be built in 2021-2023, said the press service of the Department of Emergency Situations of Almaty.
“In order to ensure the safety of people and infrastructure of the city, the administration of Almaty at the expense of the local budget has developed design estimates for the construction of two dams in the Ayusai and Aksai gorges,  to date, construction projects have been transferred to the Kazselezashchita State Institution of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan for construction and installation works. The construction of the dams is scheduled for 2021-2023," reads the statement.
According to the Emergency Situations Department, 45 moraine lakes are located in the vicinity of Almaty, 15 of them are  outburst hazardous, while the greatest danger in 2020 came from seven lakes located in the upper reaches of the rivers of Kishi, Ulken Almaty, Kargaly and Aksai.
