Dozens of protestors detained in Astana
Astana. May 2. KazTAG - Dozens of protestors have been detained in Astana, while the protestors were cordoned off in the Central park named after Gorkiy in Almaty.
"Police detained dozens of participants of the peaceful protest action in Nur-Sultan. Some of the detainees were beaten with batons by the task forces. The representative of the prosecutor’s office who arrived to the scene said the protest action was illegal and called people to leave it," reports Radio Azattyk.
About a hundred of people marched from the bank to the Palace of youth, their march down Republic avenue was accompanied by buses with special forces.
"Special forces blocked the way to the buses with the detainees. Police randomly detained the protestors and loaded them into the buses. People claimed the police to let them go. Bakytzhan Malybayev, deputy head of police of Nur-Sultan, called the protestors to leave the scene. The protestors said they would not leave it unless the detainees are released," reads the message.
