Dozens thousands of oncological have no access to radiation therapy due to equipment outwear in Kazakhstan
Astana. March 18. KazTAG - Thousands of oncological patients do not have access to radiation therapy because of equipment outwear in Kazakhstan, said Gulnar Iksanova, Majilis deputy.
"The entire range of radiation therapy in the state is medical equipment. It is represented by only five modern devices, the rest are morally and physically outdated. At least for 10 thousand patients annually radiation therapy remains inaccessible, " she said.
In 8 regions diagnostic equipment is 100% outworn, in 4 regions and Astana - 70% of mammographs are outdated.
“It is necessary to modernize all the equipment. In addition, according to experts, equipment repair and maintenance services are long and non-transparent. Sometimes they are more expensive than buying new equipment. We might consider creating a centralized service department," she said.
