Drunken driver detained after hitting four primary school girls in Almaty region

Taldykorgan. March 4. KazTAG - A drunken driver has been detained after hitting four junior school girls in the Almaty region, reports the press service of the police department of the Almaty region.
“The driver of the UAZ car has now been placed in a temporary detention center. Pre-trial investigation has been initiated under part 2 of Article 345-1 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan - violation of traffic rules by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated, which caused serious health harm.  Investigation is underway, the necessary examinations have been assigned, ”said Akbota Azirbekova, head of the department of internal and external communications of the police department of the Almaty region.
The incident took place on the evening of March 2 in the village of Koram, Enbekshikazakh region.
“UAZ driver, aged  54, resident of the village of Koram, hit two eight-year-old and two nine-year-old girls who were standing at that moment on the side of the road. It was revealed that the driver of the UAZ car was driving  in drunken condition. Medical examination showed an average degree of alcohol intoxication. Three children with various injuries were hospitalized in the Shelek regional hospital, the fourth girl, after being examined by doctors, was released,” reads the report.
