EEC may open case against "Vimpelcom" in Kazakhstan for cartel agreement
Almaty. April 14. KazTAG - The Eurasian Economic Commission ( EEC) may open a case against "Vimpelcom" company in Kazakhstan for cartel agreement, reports the Kommersant newspaper.
"The Eurasian Economic Commission may open case in respect of "Vimpelcom" company in Kazakhstan for cartel agreement," the newspaper cites Boris Parsegov, director of the department of competition policy and state purchases EEC.
The question is in the cost of roaming service for the operators in Kazakhstan. "Vimpelcom" has been providing roaming services to the local operators Kcell (affiliated company TeliaSonera) and Mobile Telecom-Service (affiliated company Tele 2) for cheaper fees than to the affiliated company KarTel (like Vimpelcom belonging to Vimpelcom Ltd., Beeline brand)," reads the message.
Parsegov had declared before that the cooperation might be called as a cartel agreement between the mobile companies working in Kazakhstan and Russia.
"It cannot be called in other words than cartel. Beeline works with MTC on one fee, and on another fee with Beeline-Kazakhstan. In fact, they set the fee higher for their affiliated company. It is clear they share the margin between each other," he said.
