Election observers complained about obstacles in their work; observer attacked in Almaty
Astana. June 10. KazTAG - Election observers have complained about obstacles in their work, one observer has been attacked in Almaty.
“It has been reported that an observer at the polling station 377 (Palace of Schoolchildren) in Almaty has been attacked, it was also reported that a police officer on duty at the site did not react. In fact, this incident was recorded by the observers, ” said Yerlan Kaliyev, coordinator of the mobile legal assistance team of the project Freedom to Peaceful Meetings in Kazakhstan.
Observers have published numerous videos that show how they are prevented from working at the polling stations. One of these videos was shot at the polling station N 116 in Turkestan.
“Do not take pictures!” said the head of the polling station to the author of the video.
“Why not? I have to shoot it — one person has just got three ballots in his hands, while this one who is going through was given two," replied the author of the video.
At this point, the head of the station answered someone's call. The author of the video is trying to point out the fact that some voters got several ballots.
“Dear chairman, that person in the third booth was given two ballots! The man in the third booth was given two, dear chairman! ” the author of the video tried to draw the attention of the electoral commission official to the violation.
However, his appeals remained ignored.
