Emergency at metallurgic combine in Temirtau: MID of Kazakhstan voiced culprits
Astana. January 10. KazTAG - The Ministry of Investments and Development of Kazakhstan has declared that official of the metallurgic plant are guilty of the accident at the metallurgic combine ArcelorMittal Temirtau.
A group accident occurred on November 10 2018 at ArcelorMittal Temirtau. As a result there was destruction of technological pipelines of air separation products of the oxygen department. Four people were injured. A commission was established to investigate the accident chaired by a representative of the authorized body in the field of industrial safety.
According to the information spread on Thursday, the commission has discovered that the destruction occurred for the following reasons:
1. Significant dynamic loads on pipelines due to large fluctuations in flow rates and pressure in high pressure oxygen and high pressure nitrogen pipelines since November 6, 2018 until the accident, resulting in a rupture of the welded joint of the outlet at a 90 ° C straight-line section of the high oxygen pipe pressure with a diameter of 720 mm, made of steel 20 GOST 1050-84 instead of steel 09G2S and installed in 2003 between the supports 126k and 127k.
2. Late shutdown of the supply of air separation products from the blocks of LLP "Linde Kazakhstan", which complicated the accident and increased the scale of destruction.
"The commission concluded that ArcelorMittal Temirtau Ltd and a number of officials are one hundred percent guilty of the accident," reads the statement.
