Almaty May 30. KazTAG - The European Union (EU) called on for a cease-fire in the Syrian province of Idlib and demanded Russia, Turkey, Iran and the Syrian government to protect civilians there, reports Reuters.
“We expect that the Syrian regime and members of the Astana process will immediately fulfill their obligations and ensure the protection of civilians. Attacks on women, children and other civilians, their relocation and the destruction of civilian infrastructure cannot be justified under any circumstances,” - said Federica Mogherini, chief EU diplomat, and the EU humanitarian aid head Christos Stylianides, addressing to Russia, Turkey and Iran. .
It is noted that the region in which about 3 million people live, including many who fled from other parts of Syria, has recently been partially protected by a truce concluded through the mediation of Russia and Turkey. Most of the recent hostilities took place in the buffer zone defined by the armistice agreement.
