EU extends "police mission" in Afghanistan until 2017
Almaty. December 18. KazTAG - The European Union has extended the "police mission" in Afghanistan until 2017, reports the Afghanistan Telegraph Agency (AfTAG).
"The European Union has extended the "police mission" in Afghanistan until December 31 20016. This mission was deployed in Afghanistan in May 2007," reads the publication.
The mission is aimed to prepare staff for MFA and Ministry of Justice of Afghanistan, office of prosecutor general, regional and province law enforcement bodies. In addition the employees of the mission provide aid to Afghanistan Government in the field of security reform.
The mission includes 350 people from 24 EU member states, and also representatives of Canada.
Italy will deploy 750 soldiers to Afghanistan to support the local authorities.
