"By the ruling of specialized interdistrict court of Almaty the suspects have been arrested for two months," said the press-service of the Almaty city court.
The anti-corruption service reported that ex-akim of the Alatau district of Almaty and his deputy are suspected of corruption crime. The case also involved head of the department of culture and development of languages of the Akim's office. They are suspected of embezzlement of budget funds on a large scale allocated under the state program Development of Regions until 2020 in 2019. The deputy akim is suspected of getting 500 000 tenge from a representative of contractor organization for patronage, and bringing false data about performance of works which were factually not performed.
