Astana. October 13. KazTAG - Muslim Umiryayev, ex minister of agriculture, has asked the specialized interdistrict court of Astana on criminal cases to give fair sentence.
"Taking in account all the factual background, I am asking you to give fair sentence," said Umiryayev in his final say.
"Probably there can't be bigger grievance and agony, when you realize that you may be punished for the actions you didn't make, for the whim of someone or for evil will of someone," he added.
The sentence will be announced on October 16 at 10.00 am.
As it was previously reported the hearing started on September 2 2014. The official is accused on the article 311 part 5 (bribery on an especially large scale). According to the indictment, Umiryayev received 6.95 mln tenge and $100 000 from entrepreneur Stanislav Makarenko through an intermediary "for his support in the tender on vaccine acquisition against foot and mouth disease and further support of the company".
