Four jails shut down in Kazakhstan
Astana. June 19. KazTAG - Four jails have been shut down in Kazakhstan, reads the decree of the Government of Kazakhstan.
"Shut down the state institutions of the committee of criminal-correctional system of the Ministry of Interior Affairs of Kazakhstan," reads the decree.
The jails ЕЦ-166/22 (Nur-Sultan), ЕЦ-166/26 (Akmola region), КА-168/5 (Aktubinsk region) and ЛА-155/1 (Almaty) have been shut down.
KazTAG reported about the planned liquidation of the jails on January 22. Kalmukhanbet Kasymov, former minister of interior affairs, said that further operation of these institutions "would require overhaul repair of the buildings, engineering, technical means, communication networks which would need high budget expenses". In addition, he said "these institutions pose threat for people's life and health as they cannot provide maximum security".
