French Alstom began production of passenger electric locomotives in Nur-Sultan
Astana. May 29. KazTAG - French Alstom began production of passenger electric locomotives in Nur-Sultan, reported the press service of the company.
“Alstom started the production of passenger electric locomotives Prima M4 KZ4AT in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan. These locomotives are manufactured under the contract concluded with Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZH) for the supply and maintenance of 302 electric locomotives Prima T8 KZ8A and 119 electric locomotives Prima M4 KZ4AT. Alstom plans to expand its staff by 35 people to work on a new production line,” - the message said on Wednesday.
It is noted that Alstom is expanding production lines, including the construction of cargo locomotives Prima T8 KZ8A for Kazakhstan and AZ8A for export to Azerbaijan. Also started assembling passenger locomotives Prima M4.
“The first passenger locomotive should be ready by the end of 2019, then it is necessary for it to receive certification as for the new product “Made in Kazakhstan”. We strive to become an export platform in Central Asia. 20 similar Prima M4 locomotives are already in operation at KTZh, and their mileage is more than 15 million km,” - said Guillaume Tritter, Alstom's managing director in Kazakhstan.
"The company's sales in the 2018-2019 fiscal year amounted to 8.1 billion euros, the volume of orders - 12.1 billion euros," - said in a statement.
