Further increase in water levels in the Kigach and Sharonovka rivers is expected in the Atyrau region

Atyrau. April 22. KazTAG – A further increase in water levels in the Kigach and Sharonovka rivers is expected in the Atyrau region.
“According to the hydrological monitoring data of the RSE Kazhydromet in the Atyrau region as of 8.00 on April 22, 2024 over the past day: on the Kigach and Sharonovka channel of the Volga River basin there is an increase in the water level, the rise in level is due to an increase in releases during the flood period from the Volgograd reservoir. (...) As of April 22, discharges from the Volzhsky hydroelectric station are 21,750 cubic meters per second. A further increase in water level is expected on the Kigach and Sharonovka channels,” reads the report.
According to operational data:
⁃ At the gauging station of the Kigach River - the village of Shortanbay, the water level is at 270 cm, the rise per day is +16 cm, the total rise since the beginning of the flood is 141 cm;
⁃ At the Kigach river gauging station - Kotyaevka village, the water level is at 146 cm, the rise per day is +16 cm, the total rise since the beginning of the flood is 136 cm;
⁃ At the gauging station of the Sharonovka River - the village of Ganyushkino, the water level is at around 173 cm.
