Gap in quality of school education between cities and villages makes 8 points in Kazakhstan
Astana. December 19. KazTAG - The gap in the quality of education between city and rural schools makes eight points, said Askhat Aimagambetov, Minister of Education and Science of Kazakhstan.
"The results of external estimation of educational achievements indicated the gap in the quality of education between city and rural schoolers in average by eight points. The results of international PISA comparative studies show similar data. 16 986 students from 497 schools of the country took part in PISA-2018. According to the results of PISA-2018, Kazakhstani students have a gap in the quality of education between cities and villages from 22 to 37 points, ” said Aimagambetov.
“75% of schools are rural in the state, and of them 40% are small schools. The rural schools (5225), especially the secondary schools (2819), lack of qualified personnel. Another factor of poor quality in rural areas is the small contingent of students, and as a result, their education in combined classrooms and low salaries of teachers," he added.
In his words additional funding within the frameworks of new state program of education development in 2020-2025 may contribute into solution of the deficit of personnel.
